The brinkmanship from both The Western (NATO and EU) and
Russia is unnecessary. They should put their egos aside and work with the two
sides in the Ukrainian political divide to thrash out a working agreement for
the country that respects the history, culture, values and identities of the
different peoples in Ukraine. I would suggest a Ukrainian federation of three
areas or units made up of their current provinces (A bilingual Central Ukraine
centered around Kiev where Russian and Ukrainian are equally recognized, an
Eastern/Southern Ukraine federal unit where the prevalence of Russian is
accepted, and a Western Ukraine Federal unit where Ukrainian is prevalent).
Switzerland is working, Belgium is still together.
